Well after enough whining on my part, not just me, but my whole family is going to see the Jamie Aaron Kelley experience tomorrow night. It's been a while since I've gotten this excited over a concert. And yes, I know that makes me an utter dork. But seriously guys, I LOVE Elvis. And this guy is amazing-truly amazing. His voice is like buttah, he moves like the King, and even looks like him. You can catch a ton of his stuff on youtube. Did I mention that I am excited? All four of us have VIP passes to see him that dad bought for us. Awwwww! :) I of course will have my ghetto camera with me to catch some sweetness for the blog. Oh, and Ashley, his latest CD is him and the Dempseys. Cool huh? The picture on the front? - all of em' standing on Beale. Under what rock have I been hiding that I haven't ever heard of him before?? I'm just so excited that I get the chance to see him. Yippee!
In other news, dad conned me in to watching Catwoman starring Halle Berry with him tonight. Did anyone seriously like that movie? The only reason I sat through the whole thing is because I simply cannot stand to not know the end to something unless of course it involves some sort of demon possessed something or random floating object, nasty hootchiness, or, well, yall get my point. H.o.r.r.i.b.l.e.
Ok, we went to see him last night and he was every bit as awesome as I imagined! I yelled out for Love Me, and he played it right then. He asked, "Is that a request or a request?" I yelled, "Both!" Harhar. He did a FABULOUS job with that favorite Elvis song. And a little later, he held up a blue heart someone gave him from the audience and I yelled out "Heartbreak Hotel!" Someone a bit louder than me (is that possible??) yelled for Blue Christmas though, and he played that first but then went right in to my request. He was awesome. I was insanely ticked at all the young things that had purchased tickets only to sit around talking, drinking, and not listening to the magic that is his voice. I even hollered at them to shut their pie holes a couple times. But as soon as the show was over, the dumb restaurant started playing rap and what not and all of em' started dancing and grinding and being hootchie. I was SO ticked off. And needless to say, my parents weren't impressed with them either. Darn young people and their lack of respect for good ol' music. It's Elvis week.....in Memphis, Tennessee people! Come on!

Alright, though I really don't quite get the Elvis obsession, I won't make fun of it this time.
But I will make fun of you for watching Catwoman. I'm the big-time uber-comic geek and even I won't watch Catwoman. I heard it was terrible, it makes the top lists of worst movies ever, so I'm not wasting my time. Same thing with Daredevil with Ben Affleck and Elektra with Jennifer Garner. There is no redeeming factors to these films.
Life's too short for bad films, unless they are 'so bad, they're good' films, like Plan 9 From Outer Space.
You didn't even like the new Fantastic Four film that much and that's at least watchable. What possessed you to watch Catwoman?
Ah, Turbo...don't tell me your a Beatles fan!!! Nooooo! (heh heh)
Sounds like you had a great time, Moose! I will have to 'google' me some youtube performances by himself!
Oddly enough, in the Elvis vs. Beatles debate, I go completely off-rail over to Bob Dylan, then on to the Doors and then Led Zepplin. I prefer Sgt. Peppers and White Album Beatles over to their early stuff, whereas young, hip Elvis is cool but I have a hard time ridding my mind of the overweight, nearly-dead has-been Elvis of Las Vegas.
I guess I'm just not normal, nor do I want to be! Bwahahahahahaha!
LOL...I am definitely with you there, Turbo. I actually was not even remotely an Elvis fan until fairly recently, like the last ten years. And now I have great respect for his 'blackness' and the early tracks like 'Mystery Train', 'Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans', and the rest of the King Creole soundtrack. I also came around to the '68 Come Back Special' eventually. But I've heard it's been said that you can't be 'truly' a Beatles fan AND an Elvis fan...you must choose. So I can proudly say I am neither...though I definitely prefer the King to The Beatles.
I'd also take a u-turn at the proverbial fork and go for Paul Simon, Led Zepplin, and Blue Cheer. Here's to NOT being NORMAL!!!
I have had an obsession with Elvis ever since I was an itty bitty. His music just makes me happy. I never did "get" the Beatles. All of their stuff just sounds the same to me. They just don't do it for me.
I do love my Zeppelin too though. But they are in one heck of a totally different category. I got really super excited waaaay back in the day when I saw the box set from them at a used CD store for pretty cheap. They tend to make some very happy music too. Case in point:some people I love very much have a certain sir that lives quite near to them that thinks Zeppelin is the ideal "getting high" music. Whenever it's cranked up, the doobies are a rollin'. heh heh
Bob Dylan is also the man. And much to Tina's delight, I have to say that Paul Simon is quite the bomb as well.
Elvis just holds some sort of weird nostalgic place in my heart.
I'll take AC/DC over them all. Although some people say that their songs sound the same. These people don't know what they are talking about. I mean how different are Ride On, Back in Black, and Hell's Bells? Come on people!
On subject though, I am an Elvis fan. How could I not be, really? My dad has always been a HUGE fan and I believe was even at his last Memphis performance, if I'm remembering right. He (dad) would play his songs on his guitar and we even had "our" song, "How would you like to be". It's one that was never popular, but very sweet for a dad & daughter. We use to sing it together when I was little. Sweet memories. He played it for Colton the last time we were down.
Awwwww...:)
Catwoman was such garbage and thankfully I lfet halfway through. Takes ALOT more than that for me to be willing to be sleep deprived the next day.
And I love Elvis quite alot.
