New...Camera,York,Year!!

So you may be wondering what that fine gem of a camera is doing on my blog. Well, it's here, because I am now the proud owner of a Nikon Coolpix S60 DIGITAL camera. That's right folks, Brooke Hunter now owns a digital camera. Gone are my film days, unless I'm shooting my old school Nikon N70 which still holds a dear place in my heart. But let me tell ya', this thing is sweet! Mom and dad surprised me with it before I went on vacation to NY(which I will write about momentarily). It's crazy. Not only is it digital, but it's a touch screen. It also comes with a stylus that can be used to sign a name on a picture or label it and it will print right on the picture. Fabulous! In. love. with. my. camera. I have been lusting after this bad boy since I saw it many months ago. They bought me red and everything. :) It's pretty crazy trying to figure out all this printing/editing business. But I'm lovin' it! Yay!

Onto aforementioned New York trip.... We flew out on Dec. 25 and got back on Jan. 5. Should have been the 4th but there were flight issues and now thanks to AirTrauma, I have two round trip tickets at my disposal. So beach trip, here Tina and I come. Boo ya! These are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip. I took over 400! Oh! I also took a ton of videos which my fabulous camera does effortlessly. We got to stay in Walkill Bethel for the first weekend and that was probably the highlight of my trip. It was splendiforous being able to be around Omar and Rheanna so much. Soooo good to see them. We met some really crazy and fun people, happened to run in to a ton of people we know that used to be at the farm but have since moved out and just so happened to be visiting the same time we were! Uriel surprised us with tickets to Medieval Times..as you can see from the picture. I have always wanted to go there and wow, was it fun. We hooted and hollered for our green knight and he threw Tina a flower that he had kissed. She was ecstatic. He almost won but the evil(but most attractive-wink wink)red knight "killed" him. So close! They serve your food in metal bowls and plates with no silverware. And Tina and I were so excited that I decided to buy us special hat/crown/things as you can also see from the picture. I'm pretty sure we were the only grown girls with these on, but hey, who cares right? ;)

We hit up Chinatown where unfortunately I did not find a "Gucci" to call my own. I did however purchase the most gaudy gold snake bracelet I could find. It's tail wraps up my arm and the head goes toward my hand. I love it! We were really upset that we didn't get to go to the NBC store after I scoped it out the first time. There were a lot of gifts we were going to get for people in there and when we went back the second time, it was 1)our last night 2)already closed....at 7!!! So we were very sad. But to make Tina feel better, we hit up Dylan's Candy Store were she was...well...like a kid in a candy store. And then we went to Serendipity which entailed an hour wait outside in the frigid cold but was it worth it?? Yes it was! We each got their signature frozen hot chocolate. I got peanut butter, Tina got Chocolate Mint and Uriel got Chocolate. And simply being there was fabulous in itself. For those of you that don't know, Tina and I are obsessed with the movie Serendipity and we got to sit right beside where it was filmed. I took a million pictures of the inside....soooo pretty. And I think they only hire flaming gay men but to tell you the truth, it kinda added to the ambiance. The door man was a flamer for sure and took it personally when everyone was crowding in "his" entrance and keeping "his" door open. I took his picture as we left because he absolutely cracked us up... When I asked him if I could, he quickly fixed his hair and scarf and said,"Ooooh! I'm so flattered!!"

My face got wind/cold/in general chapped while we were there. It was so cold! And the wind was just excruciating! But with some scarves, underoo long johns, fold up mittens, warm and toasty hats, Starbucks, puffer vests, and straight up Vaseline on my face, we were good to go.

Add to all that, it's a new year! How did that happen eh? And no, we were not anywhere near the ball when it dropped. Our hotel was actually in Manhattan, but we hung out in Brooklyn that whole night to avoid all that craziness. We did, however get to watch fireworks over the water that proved to be utterly beautiful...and cold...of course. Anyways, it really was a great trip. We didn't get to do everything we had wanted to, but we have decided this just gives us an excuse to go back in the Summer! :D

I can't wait to see all of your pictures and hear more about the trip. Was the sangria at Amicis all I said it would be?

Wow, I love New York...well, what I remember of it from 1992. hee hee. I'd love to go again but ther are so many other places on my wishlist which I will probably never see either. I'm excited that you got to go. You and your snazzy camera. I'll live vicariously through you and your 400 pics.

I do love my digital camera but it's acting 'tempermental' now so I'll probably be in the market for a new one as well.

Tina-Yeah, it was pretty hilarious to see you in Dylan's. And I am soooo happy we got to go to Serendipity. Next....ice skating! I really really want to go ice skating!

Heddo-I still haven't gotten them all together. But yea, there are some really good ones. And yes, Amici's was magical and the Sangria was divine.

Ashley-I know. It would be so nice to be independently wealthy so that we could travel whenever and wherever we wanted. :(
