Just realized this old post was on here that I never published...and since I haven't written on my blog in three hundred years, here it is.
Today dad told me while working on a job that I was tenacious. It made me smile because I knew why he chose that word to refer to me, but I checked to see if it had other meanings online, and well, thanks Pop. :) I think....

The Social Pages Say.....
Well, as I'm sure you've all heard by now, I was in attendance at the AC/DC concert Friday night, January 30th. We originally had three tickets, very good ones I might add, because I was on the phone with Ticketmaster the day and minute they went on sale a few months ago. So we got three good ones and I was "happy as a little guhl." So a week-ish before the concert, Tina mentions that we probably should have gotten our tickets in by now. So we call them and alas, they canceled the order due to an address dilemma which they did not bother telling us about. AWESOME! So I become frantic radio listening woman to try and win some, which I was going to do anyway cuz I wanted Heather and Heath to come, but now I was freaking out cuz I didn't have any myself. My magical radio skills failed me the one time I needed them the most. How did this happen?? I did get close enough to get spit in the face with them though. This one radio station was giving them away by having a short clip of 11 of their songs mushed together and the first one to call in two and a half hours later(yes I did get up at the crack of dawn to get the first play of the clip at 6 am) would get FRONT ROW seats. So my camera, with it's sweet recorder option, is in the repair shop, I only have an iPod dock and do not have a radio anymore(therefore no tape player which means no old school tape recording which is how I won my front row Cher tickets....yes, I saw Cher...on the front row...Sue me), the video camera is broken, I couldn't find dad's awesome recording phone thus leaving me to record the clip on my sharty phone that has a busted speakerphone. Despite all of this, I listened to the clip one hundred times and finally identified all 11 songs in order. So as soon as the 8:30 time to call rolled around, I had the whole fam on every phone in the house. Tina's new little magical squidget phone actually got through. She was number 2 of 3 people they were going to let guess the list. So she handed the phone to me and I listened not once, but twice(due to phone/streaming difference) as a man named Brandon with a husky annoying voice called out every single song I had on my list in the order I had them and I heard them scream out two wonderful times "You've won them Brandon! You got them all right! You're going to see AC/DC on the front row!" My heart sank for obvious reasons 1)that we even got through on the stupid line 2)That we were #2 3)that I had them all right despite my crap of a phone.--SIGH-- So, there went that. I had also tried several times on another station and couldn't even get through!! So Friday rolls around and we still have no tickets. But no need to fear, a place on Beale is giving away another pair of front rows. So I just knew in my little optimistic heart that we would certainly win those and all would be good, however I did get a small wad of cash out before heading downtown. (Ok, so I'm not that optimistic I guess)Well, I walked in the place and asked the radio station when they were giving them away and they said, "Five minutes ago." DOH!!!! So we headed towards the Forum. There were the most blood thirsty scalpers I have ever seen hovering for a kill like dirty starving buzzards. Aaron B held up two fingers and the hunt was on. Screeches and demon-like noises began to ascend upon my ears. From everywhere, men of questionable hygiene and manners lecherously approached and looked at us with one eye half squinted and said, "Ohhh, you neeeed two?? I've got two. Let's go to Starrrbucks and discusssss," as the others skulked away to find another victim. When it was obvious after many repeat sessions of this, we weren't going to give my firstborn for "lower level" seats that were actually upper nosebleed (because this girl had done her research, believe you me. I could have been on the setup crew as many times as I stalked ebay tickets)we became like an over picked carcass and they began to ignore us for fresh meat. I was beginning to lose hope, and then we saw it, there shining on the ground like a lovely redbird in the midst of a murder of crows, a golden ticket that some unfortunate schmuck had dropped and no one had noticed. As soon as the birds saw we had it, the swarm returned. "I can give you $30. $30 tops. Hard to sell a single ticket ya know." We refused. We held out until we were able to get $50 out of it and I like to think that it was a fake from another scalper that we sold right back to another. Excellent! So I was getting really desperate and kinda freaking out that we might not get to go. This pretty normal looking dude walked up and said he had an extra on the floor next to them that his buddy didn't use. I asked him how much and he said,"I dunno, I mean if I could just get face value that'd be ok I guess. 90 maybe?" So I called Tina and asked her what to do. She insisted that I go on and take it. We must have gone back and forth about this a hundred times and finally they all insist I just buy the ticket and go and meet up with all them after the show. By this point, the guy says, "How bout 80?" So I said, "You've got yourself a deal." Another group of friends had already gotten tickets and I met up with them inside and we sat around and talked during the opening act. And then I made my way down to the floor and waited...alone...I was really sad Tina didn't get to be with me. It would have been even more of a hoot if she had. But the show was amazing. They did a few off the new album plus some great old classics. A couple of my favs were missing. Oh! The nice man on the other side of me even lent me earplugs that his son wasn't going to use because he thought they made him uncool. I think my ears would have been bleeding were it not for those. Angus stripped piece by piece on this one song. The hat went a few songs into the show..then the jacket...then on the one, he started doing stripper moves and took off his tie and shirt, then turns around, unbuttons his pants and pulls them down and sticks his butt out to us to reveal boxers that say AC/DC. Then he pulled his pants back up. It was hilarious. After the show, I met back up with my gang for some karaoke which was the perfect opportunity for me to sing one of their songs in my Angus outfit of course.(Will try to snatch a picture of me in my getup and stick it on here soon)
SO WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, I GUESS THE ONLY THING LEFT TO SAY IS, "I'VE SEEN AC/DC!! WHAT WHAT!!"

New...Camera,York,Year!!

.jpg)

.jpg)

So you may be wondering what that fine gem of a camera is doing on my blog. Well, it's here, because I am now the proud owner of a Nikon Coolpix S60 DIGITAL camera. That's right folks, Brooke Hunter now owns a digital camera. Gone are my film days, unless I'm shooting my old school Nikon N70 which still holds a dear place in my heart. But let me tell ya', this thing is sweet! Mom and dad surprised me with it before I went on vacation to NY(which I will write about momentarily). It's crazy. Not only is it digital, but it's a touch screen. It also comes with a stylus that can be used to sign a name on a picture or label it and it will print right on the picture. Fabulous! In. love. with. my. camera. I have been lusting after this bad boy since I saw it many months ago. They bought me red and everything. :) It's pretty crazy trying to figure out all this printing/editing business. But I'm lovin' it! Yay!
Onto aforementioned New York trip.... We flew out on Dec. 25 and got back on Jan. 5. Should have been the 4th but there were flight issues and now thanks to AirTrauma, I have two round trip tickets at my disposal. So beach trip, here Tina and I come. Boo ya! These are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip. I took over 400! Oh! I also took a ton of videos which my fabulous camera does effortlessly. We got to stay in Walkill Bethel for the first weekend and that was probably the highlight of my trip. It was splendiforous being able to be around Omar and Rheanna so much. Soooo good to see them. We met some really crazy and fun people, happened to run in to a ton of people we know that used to be at the farm but have since moved out and just so happened to be visiting the same time we were! Uriel surprised us with tickets to Medieval Times..as you can see from the picture. I have always wanted to go there and wow, was it fun. We hooted and hollered for our green knight and he threw Tina a flower that he had kissed. She was ecstatic. He almost won but the evil(but most attractive-wink wink)red knight "killed" him. So close! They serve your food in metal bowls and plates with no silverware. And Tina and I were so excited that I decided to buy us special hat/crown/things as you can also see from the picture. I'm pretty sure we were the only grown girls with these on, but hey, who cares right? ;)
We hit up Chinatown where unfortunately I did not find a "Gucci" to call my own. I did however purchase the most gaudy gold snake bracelet I could find. It's tail wraps up my arm and the head goes toward my hand. I love it! We were really upset that we didn't get to go to the NBC store after I scoped it out the first time. There were a lot of gifts we were going to get for people in there and when we went back the second time, it was 1)our last night 2)already closed....at 7!!! So we were very sad. But to make Tina feel better, we hit up Dylan's Candy Store were she was...well...like a kid in a candy store. And then we went to Serendipity which entailed an hour wait outside in the frigid cold but was it worth it?? Yes it was! We each got their signature frozen hot chocolate. I got peanut butter, Tina got Chocolate Mint and Uriel got Chocolate. And simply being there was fabulous in itself. For those of you that don't know, Tina and I are obsessed with the movie Serendipity and we got to sit right beside where it was filmed. I took a million pictures of the inside....soooo pretty. And I think they only hire flaming gay men but to tell you the truth, it kinda added to the ambiance. The door man was a flamer for sure and took it personally when everyone was crowding in "his" entrance and keeping "his" door open. I took his picture as we left because he absolutely cracked us up... When I asked him if I could, he quickly fixed his hair and scarf and said,"Ooooh! I'm so flattered!!"
My face got wind/cold/in general chapped while we were there. It was so cold! And the wind was just excruciating! But with some scarves, underoo long johns, fold up mittens, warm and toasty hats, Starbucks, puffer vests, and straight up Vaseline on my face, we were good to go.
Add to all that, it's a new year! How did that happen eh? And no, we were not anywhere near the ball when it dropped. Our hotel was actually in Manhattan, but we hung out in Brooklyn that whole night to avoid all that craziness. We did, however get to watch fireworks over the water that proved to be utterly beautiful...and cold...of course. Anyways, it really was a great trip. We didn't get to do everything we had wanted to, but we have decided this just gives us an excuse to go back in the Summer! :D

Oh My Achin' Tush!
I'm sitting here very sore and tired but so excited from this weekend I had to start writing about it. A group of us went to The Okoee river in Chattanooga TN white water rafting and we had a hoot. Our caravan left out early Friday, stopped to eat lunch and arrived in time to set up camp and check out the river in the light. We stayed up late talking around the campfire and toasting marshmallows to make delicious smores. We woke up Saturday and ate breakfast and then since our rafting didn't start until 11:30, decided to take a hike. It was pretty awesome because there were all these signs warning about bears on the way. It was a gorgeous trail. Tina was our brave and fearless, face the spider, leader. She was entrusted with a big stick that she waved to and fro that began to resemble putting a hex on the trail ahead or perhaps blessing it? Anywho, there were only a couple screeching girl moments when she missed one and got a face full of web but she quickly toughed up and kept on movin'. I was so proud. ---Note to self:Put treadmill on steep incline for over an hour to get buff legs--- My lower body strength wreaks!! I was soooo disappointed at my wusstiferness. This would be the reason my legs feel like wet noodles now. Anywho, we came back down the mountain and Tina and I decided to race....huh hmmm. Apparently me and Forrest are both fast runners. Tina's probably gonna shank me for mentioning this again, but I guess I'm just still in shock over whooping the pants off of her. :D Course, my lungs were about to wheezy burst so if we had to go any longer I would have fallen down the mountain or something from a lung explosion. Still a hoot though. Anywho, once we were back at camp, it was time to go so we put on our swim gear and drove out. The rafting was one of the funnest things I've ever done. It was breathtaking scenery and very blood pumping fun. I whacked myself in the nose with the t bar of my oar and that was pretty awesome. We flew out like popcorn on this one rapid after Tina bowling pinned us all, I promptly let my oar sail away, whacked my cheek bone on a rock under water, and proceeded to get stuck in a "washing machine" that made me a water whack-a-mole. The boat was stuck over me for what felt like quite some time and I thought, "well air would be cool at this point. No? More water...ok. What about now..." And then before I knew it, one of the guys from the other boat in our group was pulling me up by my life vest. I said,"oh! You're not my boat"....and looked to see it way down the river. So I thanked him and started swimming like a crazy woman. I finally caught up and as I turned to adjust myself to get pulled in, my hip bone was kind enough to locate a rock underneath me. Anywho, our guide on the second half was a bit of a stoner hippie type but turned out to be a ton of fun. He asked who wanted to cowgirl up and guide us over a class 4 rapid at one point and I jumped up and went to the back of the boat. It was awesome! He gave me a few pointers and then let me have at it, and we didn't die! Once I let him take over again, we were going through this one rapid(namely what he called "Fuzzy box of kittens") and he looked at us and said, "bye." and I thought, "pshh. I ain't flyin ou.....WHOA!!" and there I flew. I didn't whack any bones this time. But he was laughing when we all got back in because he said, "See, from my prospective, when you fall out and are trying to get back in on that rapid, it's like a fuzzy box of kittens clawing to get out of the white water." Sweet.
Ok, so I started this post a million days ago and decided it was time to go ahead and post, because I have a ton more write about. But that trip was soooo much fun. Tina and I, dare I say it??????, have become quite outdoorsy! We simply love camping and apparently can't get enough of it. Ok, that's it. I'll post a picture if I can get a good one.

WHOA NELLY!
It's been......a while since I've posted. I promise I've not died as some of you suspected. There have been quickbuilds, mom and dad in pioneer school leaving me to run the shop, camping and canoing, more quickbuilds, and coming up white water rafting(whoo hoo! So excited!) just to name a few. It's been one packed but very hoot having Summer.
A rather ginormous group of us went camping last weekend and had so. much. fun. Somehow, there were a few of them that were obsessed with cooking and keeping us all fed so we didn't even use the food we brought(except for a couple choice veggie weiners and peanut butter and chocolate smores----delicious) Our tent leaked because it literally came a monsoon in the middle of the night. Thankfully we were all up chatting and so we were able to make trenches from the floor fabric to keep the water from coming in on us. And where we weren't able to do that ingenious method, we stuffed beach towels. It wouldn't have been a true Hunter camping adventure without a leaking tent. Canoing was great. I didn't get burned(the first day) and Tina and I wouldn't have tipped the whole time if it hadn't been for a vindictive kayaking incident. We accidentally(but I'll admit I saw it coming and paddled a bit harder-heh heh heh)t-boned a guy from our group and flipped him right over which I did find hilarious but he came back for blood. But all the guys helped us get back to shore and empty the water out of our canoe. Tina's little purse she brought now smells like rotted pond fish gut. Oh and here's a nice tid-bit. The other day in the kitchen I went to finish off the Baked Lays by my "crushing the remaining chips and dumping the bag into my mouth(very classy" method and got a big ol' mouthful only to think, "woof! Something stinks/maybe tastes like rotted toilet! Oh! It must be the chips I just inhaled. Excellent" So turns out, they got a little wet as well. YUM.
Saturday night, 6 of us walked a trail in the dark. Eric is apparently some sort of hippy horse monkey or something in his spare time becauase I kept losing my flip flops and he kept insisting I take his shoes because he walks barefoot all the time, everywhere and he's quite used to it. Plus it was his idea to do the trail. Tina decided that if we were in a horror movie, which we very well could have been, that she would die first because she's blond, Austin would be next because he wears glasses, and at least one more of the boys would have died but I would survive for sure because, "The brunette always makes it out." But this crazy trail was some seriously treacherous terrain. There were wooden bridges built over some parts because there was gator water beneath us. And Tina kept mentioning that if this trail/bridge isn't in the best repair, we won't be able to see. But Eric said,"Oh, I'm sure they'd have it blocked off...or signs saying not to pass." to which Tina says, "How could we see any of this if it's there??" Poor thing is blind as a bat at night anyways and to quote her, "but without the wings and the fine sense of smell" and it was pitch black that night. So as we're walking, Jason trips over something on the bridge and we flip on our flashlights only to notice that a huge chunk of the bridge has indeed rotted and fallen off in the water leaving only a few good boards to walk over. I kept reminding Tina to breathe.... So she starts saying,"wouldn't it be great if we could end up back at the cars??" Well, I have no earthly idea how we managed to, but Jason comes running back to us to say, "You'll never believe it! Tina's prayers are answered, we're back at the cars!" Apparently we managed to make a huge circle of death right back to where we started. Crazy! Anyways , that was quite an adventure.
We got pulled behind a jet ski on Sunday and I had forgotten how funny it is to see someone fly off a flotation device only to skip like a huge flat stone across the water. I managed to burn the heck out of my thighs by being a "spotter". That way I got to ride on the jet ski a lot and was in charge of making sure whoever was being pulled was super safe and dandy...and of course to see the human flat skipping stone in action. Then smelling a bit like lake and aching in muscles we didn't know we had, we headed home. And in the four and a halfish or so hours home, I watched my thighs magically transform from a slightly warmish hued pastiness, to a glowing ember tone. Almost as enjoyable as getting up early to watch the sunrise.
But I thought it only fitting, since it has been so long, to post something from one of my favorite movies, Young Frankenstein.
